Shiseido Company, Limited ("Shiseido") has signed a joint research agreement with the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBMP RAS) in Moscow, Russia. Going forward, Shiseido will participate in the SIRIUS project*1, an international research project conducted by IBMP RAS in collaboration with the HRP NASA, and work together with occupational health physician*2 to conduct "research on stress assessment through remote measurement of symmetry and movement in facial expression".
The SIRIUS project aims to study the impact of long-term isolation in a confined space on cosmonauts` and astronauts' physical and mental health in preparation for manned expedition to the Moon and Mars. The test will be conducted in a closed-off environment for eight months starting in November 2021. Our research will be promoted based on our research approach of Inside/Outside under our new R&D philosophy "DYNAMIC HARMONY", and we will elucidate the impacts of stress on the skin and body, aiming to develop value in the skin beauty field that provides comprehensive care for the mind and body. At the same time, we will develop these research results into a stress evaluation method under non-contact and remote conditions.
Going forward, Shiseido will continue to take on the challenge of creating innovations from various perspectives with the aim to "Be a Global Winner with Our Heritage".
