A mother who grew frustrated with packing sanitiser for her children has developed a novel solution - and landed a distribution deal with Checkers in the process.

When Jolene De Sousa found her children's sanitiser bottles were sitting unused at the bottom of their schoolbags, she developed SQ-Easy, a small wristband that will hold and dispense liquids like hand sanitiser and sunscreen.

"It was apparent that Covid-19 sanitisation rituals would be the norm for us for many years to come. However, the versatility of this wrist band in combination with our weather in South Africa further allows it to be filled with products like sunscreen," she explains.

Once the team had developed their product, they decided to approach Checkers, and today SQ-easy is listed in 23 Checkers supermarkets throughout the Northern Cape and Free State.

"Checkers really transformed our dream into a reality. I never thought that working with a large national company would be so seamless.."

- Jolene De Sousa, founder of SQ-Easy

"Not only did I receive advice, but the buyer was always checking in with me, offering his experience and wisdom. He understood that I did not necessarily have the corporate experience, as I was just a mom who found a solution to a problem."
