Siemens Mobility announces that rail leasing company Akiem has placed a firm order for 10 Vectron Dual Mode locomotives, with an option for 40 additional units.
The first deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. Since 2021, Akiem has already ordered 100 Vectron locomotives from Siemens Mobility.
The Vectron Dual Mode model offers 2.4 MW of power in electric mode and 2 MW in diesel mode, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
The locomotives will be operated in Germany and Austria, with prospects for use in other European countries.
Akiem says that this model enables an efficient transition from diesel to more sustainable solutions and contributes to the modernization of rail transport.
To date, Siemens Mobility has sold more than 2,700 Vectron locomotives to over 100 clients for operation in 20 European countries.
