Siemens Energy AG said Monday that it has signed a 20-year service agreement to upgrade Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's Jebel Ali L2 power and water station.

Under the agreement, the German energy company said it will provide gas turbines, intelligent controllers, a new control system for the facility, generator services and other upgrades to reduce outages and improve the plant's operational flexibility.

The intelligent controller--which was developed jointly by Siemens Energy and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority--uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to give operators an overview and assessment of a plant's operations.
