MADRID, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa on Thursday posted a net loss of 940 million euros ($943.01 million) for the year ending on Sept. 30, citing higher-than-expected direct material cost inflation and component failures, amid a 4.05 billion euro takeover bid from Germany's Siemens Energy.

The company said its full-year core earnings margin was minus 5.9%, below its own forecast of minus 5.5%.

On Tuesday, Siemens Energy formally launched its tender offer for the third of the shares it does not own in Siemens Gamesa after the transaction was cleared by Spanish market regulators. (Reporting by David Latona; Editing by Inti Landauro)
