Power Machines OJSC has manufactured and tested a 40 MW turbogenerator designed for Sofia TPP in Bulgaria.

A contract to supply power generating equipment to Sofia TPP was concluded between Power Machines OJSC and Risk Engineering AD (Bulgaria) in February 2012. Under the terms of the contract Power Machines are to manufacture and supply a 35 MW steam turbine complete with a turbogenerator and auxiliary equipment for the plant's fifth power unit. Moreover, the power engineering company's responsibilities include supervision services during installation of the equipment supplied and training of the plant's operational staff.

At the moment Kaluga Turbine Works OJSC (member of Power Machines Group) is manufacturing the turbine equipment. The deliveries completion is scheduled for the end of Q2 - beginning of Q3 this year.

The equipment replacement at the fifth power unit of Sofia TPP will allow to increase its capacity from 25 MW to 35 MW.

This project is a successful continuation of the cooperation between Power Machines and Risk Engineering AD: Power Machines manufactured, delivered and supervised the installation of two 220 MW turbogenerators within the project for the refurbishment of two units at Maritsa-East-2 TPP under a contract signed with the Bulgarian customer in 2010.
