Together with Trinkwasserwald e.V. and the Bad Sobernheim Forestry Office, SIMONA staff and their families are planting 3,300 trees and harvesting drinking water

Kirn, 10 March 2022. On 12 March 2022, SIMONA AG is planting a drinking water forest near the main warehouse in Kirn am Rummelsberg in cooperation with the Bad Sobernheim Forestry Office and the Trinkwasserwald e.V. association.

The campaign is part of SIMONA's long-term commitment to the environment in conjunction with Trinkwasserwald e.V. The non-profit association Trinkwasserwald promotes site-appropriate and climate-adapted silviculture and, by planting drinking water forests, ensures a lasting supply of high-quality drinking water - our source of life. By planting 3,300 deciduous trees, the Bad Sobernheim Forestry Office will provide some 650 people with a lifetime's supply of drinking water and capture large quantities of CO2. By establishing this drinking water forest, SIMONA is moving closer to its goal of making all employees worldwide drinking water neutral.

Staff at Kirn and their families were invited to get involved in this campaign in the run-up to the United Nations' World Water Day on 22 March. The theme chosen for this year's Water Day is "Groundwater, Making the Invisible Visible". After an introduction by representatives of Trinkwasserwald and the Forestry Office, everyone will roll up their sleeves and help with the planting. Food and drink will be available from a food truck provided by SIMONA.

This campaign is one of a wide range of sustainability projects that SIMONA is actively involved in, including initiatives such as "Zero Granulate Loss" and "Climate-Friendly SMEs".
