Gaëtan Hannecart

Gaëtan Hannecart is a civil engineer mechanical engineering and production management from the Catholic University of Leuven. In 1988 he joins Kone LIFTS in London as Assistant to the Country Installation Manager. In 1989 he receives a "Comett" scholarship of the European Commission and starts at IBM Germany in Stuttgart where he works on an expert system for business planning, before joining IBM Belgium in Brussels as Industry Specialist. In 1992 he moves to Boston where he graduates in 1994 as a Master in Business Administration at Harvard Business School. That same year he joins Matexi, the Belgian market leader in area and real estate development and inner-city conversion projects, of which he is managing director.

He is co-founder and director of the think and do tank vzw Itinera (which formulates recommendations for sustainable economic growth), is co-founder and chairman of the vzw YouthStart (reintegrating underprivileged youth) and chairman of Guberna (the institute for directors striving for good governance). Today he is a director of N-Side, a spin-off of the universities of Louvain-La-Neuve and Liège(active in optimizing decision-making procedures and energy consumption), director of Groep Louis Delhaize and chairman of the board of directors of Financière de Tubize, a listed reference shareholder of the bio-pharmaceutical company UCB.

By his presence in the board of directors of SIPEF, Gaëtan will be able to accompany, in his capacity of representative of the reference shareholder Group Bracht (12,3%), the structural development of SIPEF and use his extensive experience in the management of industrial companies and the necessity of good governance
