Skanska has signed an agreement with the Kalmar County Region, Sweden, to build a new psychiatric clinic at Västervik Hospital. The contract is worth about SEK 915 M, which is included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden in the first quarter of 2022.

The new building will house forensic psychiatry, round-the-clock care and open adult psychiatry and covers approximately 24,500 square meters spread over six floors.

The project is carried out in partnering, meaning close collaboration with the Kalmar County Region and other partners. In a preparatory phase, Skanska has already for some time worked with design of the building and calculated target cost for the project, also including climate calculation. The agreement that has now been concluded concerns the construction phase.

The official start of the construction phase is planned for the end of February and the building will be ready for use during the second quarter of 2025.
