ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) _ SkyWest Inc. (SKYW) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $62 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The St. George, Utah-based company said it had profit of $1.22 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 28 cents per share.

The regional airline posted revenue of $657 million in the period.

SkyWest shares have increased 3% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $41.57, a rise of 44% in the last 12 months.
