SMRT Corporation Ltd (SMRT) President and Chief Executive Officer Desmond Kuek has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with David He, President of Global Solution Sales of Huawei Enterprise Business Group (Huawei). The collaboration will see both companies partnering to jointly develop and market products and solutions in the international market.

Some of the products and services which will be jointly marketed globally include SMRT's Automatic Fare Collection or Passenger Information System, as well as Huawei's communication network, its radio system, IP-based video surveillance system and PBX systems. SMRT and Huawei will be conducting seminars and joint marketing events at international transportation conferences to promote these joint services, and will be collaborating in the installation and commissioning of these solutions for customers.

This partnership is not a first between SMRT and Huawei. Since January 2014, SMRT and Huawei have been collaborating in the upgrading and replacement of the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy System on the North-South and East-West Lines.

Huawei Singapore CEO, Zhou Bin said," Huawei Singapore is committed to support SMRT to build up a reliable and feature-enriched digital metro platform to enrich Singaporeans' lives through communications."

The signing took place on 20 March at Huawei's Headquarters at Shenzhen in the presence of SMRT Vice President of Business Development Mr Goh Eng Kiat, Huawei General Manager Transportation Business Sales Wang Hanchao, CEO of Huawei Singapore Zhou Bin, Head of Huawei Singapore Enterprise Fei Baoshan and Huawei Singapore Enterprise Account Director Yang Tao.
