Arma dei Carabinieri and Snam sign Memorandum of Understanding

on the safety of infrastructure and corporate processes

Rome/San Donato Milanese (Milan), 23rd September 2021 - Snam, Europe's largest energy infrastructure operator, and Arma dei Carabinieri (Carabinieri Armed Service) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening the safety of corporate processes, on people's and critical infrastructure protection, through the promotion of synergies in the information and training fields.

More specifically, the parties are expected to kick-start a collaboration for training activities for their respective staff on safety and environmental protection issues, also through the support of the Carabinieri Command for Environmental Protection and Ecological Transition. Furthermore, Snam and the Carabinieri unit will jointly organize events aimed at sharing experiences as well as operational best practices.

"The launching of such a collaboration between a fundamental institution such as the Carabinieri and a company that builds and runs strategic infrastructures such as Snam is aimed at contributing to the safety of people and territories, by sharing mutual skills f on security as well as promoting good practices in terms of ethics and the fight against corruption", commented Marco Alverà, CEO of Snam.

"This agreement allows us to promote in synergies the experiences and professionalism of our excellences, whereby increasing staff training and sharing mutual skills. The common goal is to develop, both in Italy and abroad, initiatives aimed at improving the level of safety of people and territories, with constant attention to respect for nature and the environment", said Lt. General Teo Luzi, the Commander-inChief of the Arma dei Carabinieri.

For Snam it is essential to secure the protection of company assets and the safety and operational continuity of its energy network, protecting its staff in charge of their development and management. Towards this objective, the company is increasingly attentive to enhancing security, encouraging synergies with all internal processes to stimulate greater flexibility and responsiveness; all actions necessary to prevent, contrast and manage impacts from unforseen situations.

The implementation of the single initiatives will be disciplined upon the implementation of dedicated operational agreements.
