(Alliance News) - The Webranking 2024-2025 survey, conducted by Lundquist in collaboration with Comprend, confirms the leadership of Italian companies in digital communication transparency among the top 500 European companies.

According to a report Monday by Corriere della Sera in its L'Economia supplement, The top four positions are occupied by Terna, Poste Italiane, Snam and Eni, with Generali in sixth place. Mediobanca and Intesa Sanpaolo dominate in the banking sector, while Amplifon leads in the healthcare sector.

Italy stands out with an average score of 53.7, higher than the European average of 48.4, but ranks third behind Finland and Sweden. However, 11 Italian companies fall in the last 100 positions, highlighting transparency limited to large entities.

The study shows that European companies, including Italian players, excel in communication to employees and on sustainability, but struggle to present clear information for investors. Only 47 percent of the companies analyzed offer an investment case and just 32 percent offer measurable financial targets.

The basic resources sector excels with an average score of 57.7, followed by energy and telecommunications. The retail, travel, media, and real estate sectors report the worst results.

The EU's CSRD Directive, which will expand ESG reporting requirements from 2024, along with the growing impact of artificial intelligence, will push companies to make reporting increasingly technical and strategic. Lundquist stresses the importance of differentiation, using concrete examples to respond to increasingly aware stakeholders.
