TAMPA, Fla., USA: Thirteen experts from Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, will present topics, moderate sessions and teach workshops at the 45th annual Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) National Conference, being held virtually May 10-14.
Atkins presenters will share their experience and expertise working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other government agencies to help communities prepare for and recover from flooding. The group will also share ideas and best practices associated with floodplain mapping, dam and levee risk education, geospatial data advancements, hazard mitigation and other water resource management issues.
'As we see a continued rise in extreme weather events and other climate change-related impacts, we expect to see an increase in the consideration of large-scale mitigation solutions to build resiliency,' said Catherine Clinch, Civilian Sector Manager, Atkins Federal Business Unit. 'This conference provides an excellent opportunity for us to share what we know about mitigation and enabling community resilience.'
Deemed by ASFPM as the world's largest floodplain management conference, the annual ASFPM national conference brings more than 1,000 attendees together with local, state, regional, tribal and federal officials, industry leaders, consultants and subject matter experts to address water and floodplain management issues. ASFPM represents over 18,000 practitioners, 10,000 Certified Floodplain Managers, 36 chapters and 73 corporate and agency partners world-wide.
