TAMPA, Fla., USA: Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, announces today that it has won three Best in Construction Awards from the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA). The Company provided construction engineering and inspection (CEI) consultant services for the three award-winning projects and will be recognized during FTBA's 2021 annual convention August 9 in Orlando.
'It's a great honor to be recognized for our work on some of the most innovative, complex and impactful projects in the state,' said Tom Delaney, Department of Transportation Division Manager, SNC-Lavalin's Atkins business. 'We look forward to continuing our CEI support to transportation projects that improve mobility and safety throughout Florida.'
The Company won Best in Construction Awards in the following categories:
Rural: Wakulla County, District 3's U.S. Route 98 Paved Shared Use Path project, combining alternative mobility, pedestrian safety and eco-tourism to construct a paved 10-foot-wide, 2-mile-long shared use path adjacent to environmentally sensitive wetlands and pine forest.
Urban: Hillsborough County, District 7's $31 million I-275 Operational Improvements project in Tampa, in one of the city's most congested areas as they prepared to host Superbowl LV in 2021. District 7 work included widening and resurfacing, ramp modifications, widening the northbound I-275 bridges, constructing retaining walls, noise walls, drainage systems, as well as signage, pavement marking, lighting, signalization and intelligent transportation systems modifications.
Express Authority Project of the Year: Hillsborough County, Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority's Selmon West Extension project, an elevated 1.9-mile, two-lane toll road in Tampa that reduces neighborhood traffic and addresses rapid population growth, meeting the local community's needs and providing regional connectivity.
