Key progress on Sodexo climate strategy

Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life Services, joins the Climate Group's RE100 initiative, in line with its commitment to switching to 100% renewable electricity by 2025 at its directly operated sites. RE100 is a global initiative bringing together the world's most influential companies leading the transition to 100% renewable electricity.

This commitment covers Sodexo's directly operated sites under the Scope 1 and Scope 2 activities as per the GHG Protocol guidelines and is part of Sodexo's climate strategy to achieve its science-based and industry-leading target of 34% total carbon emissions reduction by 2025, in line with the Paris agreements (COP21), which set a limit of 1.5°C warming by 2030. Since 2017, Sodexo reduced its Scopes 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 15.9% and its Scope 3 Supply Chain carbon emissions by 10.5%*. Sodexo has already achieved a 20.3% renewable electricity share in its Scope 2 emissions.

Maria Outters, Sodexo Senior Vice President, Corporate Responsibility said:

'Our ambition is to contribute to the energy transition to the best of our capacity as a food and facility management services provider. Every day, around the world, we support our clients through our energy management services by promoting the use of renewable energy, generating significant savings and returns on investment. Joining the RE100 was a natural step in our sustainability journey.'

Aleksandra Klassen, Senior Impact Manager of RE100, The Climate Group said:

'I am delighted to welcome Sodexo to RE100. By committing to 100% renewable electricity by 2025, Sodexo is joining a growing number of companies committed to driving market change. This sends a powerful message that renewable electricity makes good business sense, and we encourage others to follow.'

Sodexo has been recognized with prestigious 'A' score for climate change by CDP in 2020.

Partnering to act on climate change is part of the positive impact of doing business with Sodexo.
