For the second year in a row, Solvay employees around the world will unite with local communities globally on the occasion of the company's global Citizen Day. Last year, Solvay's first edition offered employees the possibility to act for the environment. Due to this year's unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, Solvay employees from more than 160 sites worldwide are joining forces in a virtual edition of the Citizen Day dedicated to education.
Activities range from coaching students, giving virtual classes to local schools and virtual site visits. As schools, universities and educational institutions worldwide have been impacted by the pandemic, Solvay aims at providing a solution, living its Purpose in challenging times, and involving its most valuable resource - its people. Educational institutions and communities welcome the sharing of expertise and know-how from Solvay employees.
Furthermore,Solvay collaborated with the NGO greenlight for girls whose aim is to inspire girls, and boys, to pursue STEM* studies and careers. In collaboration with the NGO, Solvay is launching the 'Future Innovator's Library', hosting educational videos created by its employees, as well as an inspirational portal for Solvay employees, providing them with tips and ideas on how to educate and bond with communities.
