South32 : Fatality at South Africa Manganese

FATALITY AT SOUTH AFRICA MANGANESE

South32 regrets to inform that one of our colleagues, Mr Desmin Mienies, a contractor with Elektra Mining, was fatally injured while working at our Wessels mine at Hotazel Manganese Mines on 30 November 2021.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Mr Mienies' family and we are providing support and counselling to help them through this difficult time. We are also supporting the Wessels team.

Operations at the Wessels mine were suspended following the incident and investigations are underway in conjunction with the relevant authorities.
