SCA Chief Technology Officer Stephen Haddad has been recognised as one of the top 50 senior technology and digital executives in Australia featuring on the prestigious 2021 CIO50 list for the second consecutive year.

Now in its sixth year, CIO50 celebrates the achievements of the top 50 senior technology and digital executives who are driving technology-led innovations, building cultures, and influencing the leadership teams across their organisations.

In his role as Chief Technology Officer, Haddad leads a team of 145 people at SCA.

A key achievement during the year for Haddad and the Technology teams was the development of LiSTNR, the new audio destination for Australians that houses radio, news, music, sport, and podcasts, in February.

Under Haddad's leadership, the LiSTNR product was built in house from the ground up by the SCA Technology Services teams. After the final concept of LiSTNR was established, Haddad's team, in collaboration with many departments across SCA, worked for 12 months developing several iterations of the product before it was ready for market.

Three elements of the LiSTNR app developed under Haddad's leadership make it unique: it provides a curated feed for audiences based on organic intelligence over pure artificial intelligence; it focuses on curation over aggregation, to deliver only relevant premium podcasts; and localism over globalism with content tailored for Australian audiences and hyper local content.

The role of Technology Services in the wider business has been positively acknowledged over the past 18 months due to the fast and efficient approach taken when COVID hit, allowing SCA's radio and podcast operations to continue to operate seamlessly remotely.

Haddad has been with SCA since 2016, taking on the Chief Technology Officer role and joining the executive leadership team in 2018.

CIO Australia Editor-in-Chief, Byron Connolly, said: "The CIO50 is Australia's premier awards program for senior enterprise technology and digital executives. CIO Australia congratulates Southern Cross Austereo's Stephen Haddad for being part of this prestigious list in 2021."

Haddad said: "It is a great honour to be included in the CIO50 list for 2021, a year that has once again presented unique challenges. The successful development and launch of LiSTNR is testament to the high level of collaboration that exists across SCA. Everyone who contributed should be as proud as I am of the outcome.

"Thank you also to the wider Technology teams for their passion and dedication in creating such an exceptional product."

Judges rated submissions on the technology innovations that have changed how an organisation operates, why the innovations are unique in the marketplace, and how CIOs influence and inspire other people across their organisations.
