a Total Service Provider of Ground Segments for Orbiting Satellites

TOKYO-October 21, 2021-SPARX Innovation for the Future (SIF)-a subsidiary of SPARX Group Co., Ltd. (SPARX; TSE1: 8739)-today announced that its Space Frontier Fund, operating since June 2020, has invested in Infostellar, a total service provider of ground segments for orbiting satellites. Infostellar intends to use this round of capital to recruit personnel for its sales team in preparation primarily for expanding into the US market and its operation team as its client base grows.

Infostellar is a ground segment as a service (GSaaS) provider. It offers a ground station network that excels in flexibility and scalability through Stellar Station, a cloud platform for virtualizing ground station networks. It also provides operational support for the ground segments needed to operate satellites, including acquiring wireless licenses and adjusting broadcast frequencies. By reducing the difficulty of building ground segments, the firm assists mission development and service improvement for companies engaged in new satellite-based businesses. Founded in 2016, Infostellar has its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, and a European office in Bristol, UK.

Space Frontier Fund Overview
The Space Frontier Fund primarily seeks to support human resources and technology development in space-related industries, to foster Japanese space companies that are competitive on the world stage, and to contribute to technological innovation throughout Japan. Under SIF as its manager, the Fund began operations in June 2020 with an initial investment of JPY 8.2 billion from Toyota Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mizuho Bank, and others.
