Cergy, March 1st, 2022 - SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has announced the approval of its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in accordance with its good practice guide and the Paris Agreement.

The SBTi aims to drive "ambitious climate action" by offering companies the chance to turn their transition to a low-carbon economy into a competitive edge. To do this, it seeks to ensure that the greenhouse gas reduction targets that companies set themselves follow the climate science data. The targets approved by the SBTi cover the direct and indirect emissions generated by SPIE's activities, in accordance with the reductions required to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

As a leading player in the green economy for over 10 years, SPIE puts sustainable development at the heart of its activities and internal policies. The Group has been pursuing an ambitious environmental policy since 2010 to contribute to solving energy and climate challenges. Today, this action is strengthened by European recovery plans. By working every day to reduce its carbon footprint and those of its customers, SPIE is on the side of the solution.

SPIE is committed to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions generated by its activities (scope 1 and 2) by 25% by 2025. Two-thirds of its indirect emissions (scope 3 - mostly purchasing) should originate from suppliers with ambitious targets in terms of reducing their carbon footprint.
