SPIE chosen by the city of Bordeaux for the energy performance of its infrastructure

Saint-Denis, January 13, 2022 - SPIE Facilities, the French subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is continuing its work on behalf of Bordeaux Métropole and the city of Bordeaux. The contract covers the operation of energy facilities at 110 schools and day-care centers and 36 cultural facilities.

Renewed collaboration for 6 years

For the next six years, SPIE will be involved in monitoring and maintaining heating, air conditioning, hot water production and ventilation equipment. The company has been a partner of the city of Bordeaux in the operation of its various facilities since 2008.
It is fully involved in the energy transition of the Bordeaux urban area.

The 110 schools and day-care centers and the 36 cultural establishments of the city of Bordeaux will benefit from interventions on the heating, air conditioning, domestic hot water, ventilation and technical systems, always with a commitment to energy performance and the implementation of innovative carbon-free energy production operations.

A trusted partner in the operation of energy facilities

SPIE Facilities is attentive to regulatory and health requirements in the area of air quality, and brings all its expertise to bear to ensure that maintenance quality and energy performance meet expectations. Its teams also operate carbon-free energy production units. These include :

  • the operation of a heating and air conditioning system (heat pump) using heat recovery from the wastewater network at the Natural History Museum
  • the operation of a heating and air conditioning system installed on geothermal probes at the Archives Départementales Métropolitaines
  • the continued operation of a heating and air conditioning system connected to a geothermal network at the Mériadeck Library
  • the continued operation of a smart-regulation microcogeneration system in one of the elementary school

"The process of reducing the carbon footprint and energy consumption of buildings is essential for the Metropolis of Bordeaux, as it is for all territories. As the vast majority of public buildings were built more than 30 years ago, improving energy performance is a major challenge for the public sector. This is our expertise, and we are very proud of the renewal of this contract and of the trust placed in us by this major customer," said Cyril Pouet, Managing Director of SPIE Facilities.
