On May 16, 2022, Spirit Airlines, Inc. announced that it has asked its shareholders to delay action on a new buyout bid by JetBlue Airways Corporation, which launched a hostile campaign to acquire the Company after its first offer was rejected. The Company stated that its shareholders are scheduled to vote June 10, 2022, on an earlier bid by Frontier Airlines, which is favored by the Company's board. The Company added that it has asked its stockholders to hold off making any decisions until after its board of directors reviews the latest JetBlue Airways' bid, which came and, at $30 a share, is now $3 lower than the original.
