The steel company SSAB has entered into a strategic partnership with Stena Metall regarding deliveries of recycled scrap metal, according to a press release.

SSAB writes that the cooperation means that a larger amount of recycled metal can be reused in Sweden. The first deliveries are scheduled to take place when the new electric arc furnace is commissioned, and will mainly be made by train between Halmstad and Oxelösund.

"The conversion of the steel plant in Oxelösund means that we can reduce Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions by about three percent by producing steel from both recycled scrap metal and fossil-free sponge iron," says Asma Manesh, Commodity Manager Scrap at SSAB.
