(Alliance News) - The Italian auto industry closes another negative month. After a quarter already marked by downturns--down 13 percent in August, 11 percent in September, and 9 percent in October--November recorded 124,251 new registrations, marking a drop ofk011 percent compared to 139,319 units in the same month of 2023.

As Milano Finanza reported Tuesday, despite recent difficulties, the balance for the first eleven months of the year appears less dramatic: compared to the same period in 2023, the decline is limited to 0.2 percent. However, November sales represent a new setback for Stellantis, which registered 30,817 vehicles in Italy, down 25 percent from last year's 40,853 units. The group's market share dropped from 29.3 percent to 24.7 percent.

In the first 11 months of 2024, Stellantis NV totaled 428,205 registrations in Italy, down 9.4 percent from 472,729 units in 2023, with market share reduced to 29.4 percent from 32.4 percent a year earlier. The blow comes at a delicate time, just hours after the resignation of CEO, Carlos Tavares.

The electric car market also contracted in November: 6,601 full electric cars were registered, down 17 percent from the same month in 2023 and with market share reduced to 5.3 percent from 5.7 percent a year earlier.

However, the cumulative figure from January to November shows substantial stability with 59,126 units registered - down 0.6 percent - and a market share of 4.1 percent, unchanged from 2023. As of Nov. 30, the electric car fleet in Italy stood at 272,105 units.

Among the group's brands, Fiat recorded a 42 percent decline, registering 8,794 cars and seeing its market share drop to 7.1 percent, surpassed by Toyota (8.9 percent) and Volkswagen (8.6 percent). Alfa Romeo also experienced a decline, with 2,479 units registered, down 9.1 percent. Lancia suffered a dramatic contraction: only 812 vehicles registered, down 80 percent and a market share reduced to 0.6 percent. Maserati registered 111 cars - down 59% with 0.1% share. Tesla marked a 70% drop from November 2023, with 808 cars delivered.
