Technological innovation & circular economy: The French Federation of Blockchain Professionals creates a Strategy Committee dedicated to the circular economy
In order to advance research, encourage the deployment of new solutions and determine the environmental sectors in which blockchain will play a major role, while shedding light on the environmental impact of this technology, the French Federation of Blockchain Professionals announces the launch of a Strategy Committee dedicated to the circular economy.

Chaired by Antoine Le Feuvre, CEO Digital Solutions for Citizens, Consumers and Companies (3C) within the SUEZ Smart & Environmental Solutions Business Unit, together with Frédéric Cardot, CEO of FisY Finance, as Vice-Chairman, the Strategy Committee will notably have the objective of defining the opportunities, challenges and steps needed to make the blockchain a reference infrastructure for the different environmental services (traceability in value chains, environmental measures, etc.).

The Committee is open to all actors, within companies, local communities and associations, who wish to put blockchain to the service of the circular economy.

Blockchain, a response to the circular economy challenges

The linear system inherited from the industrial revolution can no longer meet the environmental challenges faced by our planet today. A year ago, the French law of February 10, 2020, related to the fight against waste and the circular economy provided structuring response elements.

The change in production and consumption models has become an imperative. Its acceleration is supported by numerous technological innovations such as blockchain, which represents major disruptive technology in order to accelerate the transition to a more circular economy.

Used in a responsible way, blockchain will become an important lever to foster the ecological transition:

  • by guaranteeing the traceability and recovery of resources from the circular economy;
  • by reinforcing trust between the various players and cooperation within ecosystems;
  • by developing eco-responsible practices thanks to digital assets.

Rémy André Ozcan, President of the French Federation of Blockchain Professionals: 'Blockchain technology is a formidable catalyst to ensure the transition to a circular economy. In particular, it favors a better inclusion of circular economy actors by providing certain traceability of products and to value waste that currently has no economic value. It surely constitutes one of the best weapons for the transition from a linear production economy to a circular economy.'

Antoine Le Feuvre, CEO Digital Solutions for Citizens, Consumers and Companies (3C) within the SUEZ Smart & Environmental Solutions Business Unit:'For many years, the SUEZ Group has committed in favor of the transition to the circular economy to build a more sustainable world. We are convinced that technological innovation is necessary to accelerate this transformation. By bringing together actors from different backgrounds around this major challenge for our planet, this new Committee within the French Federation of Blockchain Professionals will commit to putting the tremendous potential of blockchain to the service of the environment.'
