Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (President: Fukuichi Sekine, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has established the 'Sustainability Promotion Office' as a company-wide organization to strengthen efforts toward '2050 Carbon Neutral'. The 'Global Environmental Harmony Research Group' will be established at the Cement and Concrete Research Institute.

We established the Sustainable Measures Committee in April 2020, and published the '2050' Carbon Neutral Vision 'SO-CN2050' that summarizes specific greenhouse gas reduction targets and efforts toward the realization of a carbon-free society. It was announced in December. In April 2021, the 'Sustainability Promotion Office' will be newly established in order to strengthen efforts related to climate change issues and sustainability issues across the entire company, including the various measures of 'SO-CN2050'.

In May 2021, the Cement and Concrete Research Institute will launch a new organization of the 'Global Environmental Harmony Research Group'. It was adopted in research and development projects commissioned the National Research and Development Institute of New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) 'waste materials was extracted from Calcium innovative carbon recycling technology that is immobilized to use as a mineral in the reaction of CO 2.' First, we will strengthen research and development on CO 2 emission reduction and carbon recycling aiming for practical use in 2030.

Going forward, we will continue to work toward the realization of a sustainable society by solving climate change issues and various sustainability issues, including the challenge of carbon neutrality.

that's all
