To my hardworking colleagues dedicated to changing the way our world is powered -

We recently announced that SunPower's U.S. offices would be closed on Tuesday, November 3. Though the decision to offer this paid holiday was made in large part to thank you for the incredible perseverance and flexibility you've demonstrated this year, the date was chosen very intentionally. While not a national holiday, November 3 is Election Day and represents perhaps the most patriotic day of the year when we have an opportunity to exercise our civil right and decide the direction of our country. Now more than ever, your voice - and vote - is important.

The year 2020 has offered much to think about. Rolling blackouts, the continued fight against climate change and the literal battle to save homes and lives in the wake of wildfires and hurricanes. But environmental challenges are just the start. There's also the pandemic, social injustice, diversity, healthcare, education and the economy, just to name a few.

This isn't an endorsement of a candidate or a political party. It's a request that you thoughtfully cast your vote this November 3. Your in-person vote is especially critical in states like Texas (home to our largest U.S. office) where absentee voting is reserved for the elderly, the sick or those out of the country.

So, whether you vote early, vote by mail or vote in person, your vote IS important. If you've already voted, volunteer at your local polling location. It's meaningful not only for this election, but for the next generation of forward-thinking freedom chasers as well.
