SAO PAULO, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Brazilian pulpmaker Suzano SA posted net profit of 5.45 billion reais ($1.02 billion) in the third quarter, backed by higher pulp prices, the company said on Thursday.

The company reversed a loss of 959 million reais recorded in the same period of 2021.

Sales of pulp, its main business, grew by 5% year-on-year, while the average realized price of the product rose 25% to $821 per tonne.

Suzano said the quarter was marked by "resilient hardwood pulp prices, supported by solid demand."

Earlier this week, the firm announced the acquisition of Kimberly-Clark's tissue assets in Brazil for $175 million. ($1 = 5.3369 reais) (Reporting by Peter Frontini; Editing by Chris Reese and Jonathan Oatis)
