In recent months, Swiss Prime Site has conducted successful negotiations with a number of landowners in Richterswil. Three contiguous plots will form the future Gartenstrasse site, situated in an attractive central location in the main part of the town. The station, shops and Zurich lake shore are all a few minutes' walk away. The overall project aims to create assisted living for senior residents and apartment accommodation in an architecturally appealing environment. Building is scheduled to commence in 2018 and will last three to four years. The existing Etzelblick residential and care centre, which is operated by Tertianum, will also be incorporated into the overall concept. As Luca Stäger, the Tertianum Group's CEO, explains,

«Our residents want to live autonomously while having access to services should they need them. In Richterswil, we will soon have the infrastructure they require, with a comprehensive service offering and a range of attractive meeting areas».

Public private partnership provides important new model for the future

In 2016, the municipality of Richterswil decided to transfer its care centre project to Swiss Prime Site. The planned sale required approval by the local electorate in a vote held in November 2016. Following a clear vote in favour of the project, property ownership was transferred to Swiss Prime Site. The Etzelblick care and residential centre will now be replaced by a new facility providing care to some 60 residents. In addition to care services, the new development will provide assisted living and other forms of accommodation. The new residential and care centre will be operated by the Tertianum group under a service agreement concluded with the municipality of Richterswil. Under this agreement, Swiss Prime Site and the Tertianum Group guarantee to meet future residential care needs arising in Richterswil. In the words of René Zahnd, Swiss Prime Site's CEO, «We are very proud to have been entrusted with the realisation of this project in collaboration with the municipality of Richterswil. Public private partnerships of this kind will be important new models for the future». Hans Jörg Huber, the Mayor of Richterswil, adds «The comprehensive project put forward by Swiss Prime Site met with our complete approval. We are pleased that our town will now have a modern care centre with assisted living accommodation and we are glad that in Tertianum we have found a strong and reliable partner to operate it on our behalf».
