Synovus Announces Promotion of Cory Jackson to Central Atlanta Market President Marie Mikle to retire Dec. 31, 2022, after a more than 20-year career with Synovus

Synovus Bank today announced the promotion of Cory Jackson to Central Atlanta market president, effective Jan. 1, 2023. In this role, Jackson will continue to lead Synovus' Central Atlanta commercial banking efforts and assume responsibility for the geographic market's strategic initiatives and direction. Jackson will succeed Marie Mikle who will retire Dec. 31 after a 21-year career with Synovus.

Jackson joined Synovus in 2005 as a teller in Warner Robins, Georgia, and graduated from the company's Accelerated Banker program in 2012. He was promoted to commercial banker in 2015 and named Central Atlanta commercial banking manager in March 2021. Jackson is a graduate of Kennesaw State University and the University of Louisiana Graduate School of Banking. He is a previous winner of a Synovus Chairman's Sales Award, presented annually to team members who exceed sales goals and make extraordinary contributions to new business, cross-sell opportunities, and shareholder value. Jackson is also a member of Synovus' corporate inclusion and diversity leadership team. Deeply committed to the Atlanta community, Jackson serves on the boards of the Shepherd Center and the National Flag Football League of Atlanta.

Mikle is a more than 40-year banking veteran who joined Synovus in 2001. She led the bank's outreach to commercial clients in Buckhead, Midtown, and the City of Atlanta for 20 years before being named Central Atlanta market executive in March 2021. Mikle is a winner of Synovus' James H. Blanchard Leadership Award and a four-time recipient of Synovus' internal Circle of Excellence Commercial Banking Manager Award. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the American Bankers Association Commercial Lending School.

Synovus established its Central Atlanta market within its North Georgia Division in 2021. The market, which includes Synovus' Buckhead and West Midtown locations, expanded the bank's in-town presence in Atlanta and provides added coverage and client convenience for the Central Atlanta community.
