Raul Corredera Haener, Senior Director, Manufacturing and Operations at the Systemair Group has been elected President of the Eurovent Association during their Annual Meeting held on 4 May 2021. Corredera will hold the leadership position within the Association for the 2021-2024 term. He will place a strategic focus on building bridges and breaking trade barriers to represent the interests of Eurovent members and drive a positive change in Eurovent from a European and international perspective. Corredera's election underlines Systemair's commitment to drive developments for the benefit of the entire HVAC industry, and the company's global expertise on the regulatory and standardisation landscape.

Raul Corredera Haener, said, 'It is a great honour and privilege to be elected President of the Association. Now, more than ever, we must work together to raise the standards within the industry, given the important role the HVACR sector plays in the welfare of our society and in combatting climate change. I would like to extend my gratitude to all the Eurovent members, my employer, Systemair, and our Spanish member association, AFEC, for placing their trust in me. Together with my colleague and Vice-President Henk Kranenberg from Daikin, and the rest of the Board members I would like to form a strong leadership that drives a positive change towards the next generation of our association, the certification company, and the industry as whole.'

In Europe, Corredera aims to strengthen relations of EU institutions and member states and facilitate next-level legislative measures in terms of indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and sustainable cooling, with a focus on natural refrigerants such as propane and low-GWP alternatives. This is part of the efforts to prevent the growing bureaucratisation and related burdens for manufacturers in the HVACR sector, as well as isolated national efforts leading to unnecessary trade barriers. 'We need to ensure that horizontal issues, such as BIM, life-cycle costs, and circular economy, are tackled on a European, not national level,' said C, who added that there will be a greater focus on the consolidation of the European association and certification landscape, encouraging mergers and closer partnerships.

Corredera will also work to reinforce Eurovent's global footprint through the new 'Eurovent International' grouping and international partnership chapters, while facilitating a renewed, active alliance with like-minded international associations, such as AMCA. 'We need to work towards a level playing field in the global HVACR sector based on innovation and sustainability - not trade barriers,' he said. Corredera will likewise complete and enforce the wide-ranging structural reform efforts of the Eurovent organisations, initiate a sound communication and market surveillance framework, and accelerate changes in the Eurovent Certification organisation to strengthen its value for participants.

Corredera brings to the role his holistic knowledge of the industry as a member of Systemair's global production board and over 12 years of experience managing the company's sales and production company in Spain and the Menerga plant in Germany. Corredera has a strong European background, being of Spanish and Swiss origin, in addition to having worked in multiple EU countries throughout his career.
