Telecom Egypt : and Huawei sign MoUs to prepare TE’s network for new technologies including 5G and WDM 400G

Telecom Egypt and Huawei sign two MoUs as part of Telecom Egypt's continuous efforts to transform its fixed and mobile network with the newest technologies. The first MoU aims to prepare TE's network to be 5G ready whereas both parties will plan and implement 5G trials, asses use cases and evaluate new 5G revenue streams. The first trial will be conducted in Cairo Stadium in June 2019. Under the second MoU, Telecom Egypt and Huawei will establish a partnership to test the WDM 400G transmission technologyon Telecom Egypt's network. This technology is designed to sustain traffic growth and lower the cost per bit in fiber transmission.

Adel Hamed, Telecom Egypt's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer said:
