Last month, the Court of Appeals had given the parties until Jan. 20 to reach a settlement agreement. At the closed hearing on Jan. 20, the court verified that the out-of-court settlement had not been found and reserved its decision.
Last April 3, the Rome Court of Appeals had decided to award the tlc group the repayment it requested from the state in the amount of about 1 billion, as part of a dispute over the restitution of the 1998 concession fee, the year after the liberalization of the tlc sector.
On the same day, the government announced an appeal to the Supreme Court and a request to suspend the executive effects of the Court of Appeals' ruling.
The amount owed of about one billion is equal to the original fee of just over 500 million euros, plus revaluation and accrued interest.
