Telia Company AB Publ Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2021

Telia Company AB publ announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was SEK 21,877 million compared to SEK 21,770 million a year ago. Operating income was SEK 9,067 million compared to operating loss of SEK 946 million a year ago. Net income was SEK 8,068 million compared to net loss of SEK 2,052 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was SEK 1.97 compared to basic loss per share of SEK 0.5 a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was SEK 1.93 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of SEK 0.5 a year ago.
For the half year, sales was SEK 43,691 million compared to SEK 44,197 million a year ago. Operating income was SEK 10,888 million compared to SEK 1,460 million a year ago. Net income was SEK 9,033 million compared to net loss of SEK 943 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was SEK 2.21 compared to basic loss per share of SEK 0.23 a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was SEK 2.17 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of SEK 0.18 a year ago.
Telia Company AB is the leading Scandinavian telecommunications operator. Net sales (including intragroup) break down by activity as follows:
- telecommunications services (85.8%): mobile telephony (19.8 million subscribers at year-end 2022), fixed-line telephony (0.9 million), cable television transmission (3 million), broadband Internet access (2.9 million), etc.;
- media services (9.6%): production and broadcasting of audiovisual content (TV4, C More and MTV channels);
- other (4.6%).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Sweden (46.4%), Finland (18.7%), Norway (16.5%), Denmark (5.8%), Lithuania (5.5%), Estonia (4%) and other (3.1%).
