Telia's smart TV that offers Lithuanian TV channels, TV shows, video-on-demand and exclusive HBO content will soon be available on your phone, tablet or PC screen in Lithuania. The TV on the go service called Telia Play is set to launch later this year, while testing of the 'beta' version is scheduled to start next week.

'People want to watch interesting and relevant content at the time and place convenient for them, without being tied to devices, cables or antennas. This is why we created Telia Play - a small screen TV. It will always be available wherever its viewers are. Whether you are camping in the woods while a basketball championship is on, or you simply want to watch TV on the way to the seaside - Telia's TV content will always be at your fingertips', says Nortautas Luopas, Head of B2C at Telia Lietuva.

Telia Play is one of the projects, which has been developed and supported in cooperation with the shared service centre, Telia Global Services Lithuania, operating in Lithuania. This is one of Telia's first common products for all Baltic and Nordic countries.

'The market and consumers have dictated the need for such functionality: now the offered TV service must work on all devices. Telia Group started developing this product a few years ago, and Lithuanians joined the joint team about a year and a half ago. Our specialists work not only on the adaptation of the service for Lithuania, but also contribute to the development and expansion of the entire product, creation and integration of its new functions. Thus, residents of all Baltic and Scandinavian countries see and can assess the work done by Lithuanians', says N. Luopas.

Customers will also test the 'beta' version

Telia will soon launch the public testing of the new service. Randomly selected existing Telia smart TV customers will be invited to use and test Telia Play free of charge. About 2,000 people are expected to test the trial Telia Play version in the first stage.

The trial version will offer more than 30 most watched TV channels, the majority of which are broadcasted in HD. Testers will also have access to a 14-day TV media library, HBO content, movies from the Vilnius International Film Festival 'Kino Pavasaris', and the latest video-on-demand movies.

'We want to integrate our customers into the service launch process. Such cooperation can speed up and improve the outcome of entry into the market. Moreover, it is also a good way to assess customer needs and expectations, which will allow successfully developing Telia Play in the future', says N. Luopas.

Service available in all EU states

Later this year, Telia Play will become available to all, while smart Telia TV customers will be able to use it free of charge. This will require downloading Telia Play app from Google Play or App Store. The new service will also be available on the website TeliaPlay.lt.

Telia Play will be available having connected to fixed, mobile or Wi-Fi network of any Internet provider, and using it in all EU states will be possible.

'Telia will continue to invest in this platform and to enhance its capabilities in the future so that Telia Play not only has the key functionalities, but is also able to compete with the best world-known video content platforms', - N. Luopas shared plans for the future.

Currently, about a fifth of Lithuania's residents watch smart Telia TV. According to the latest data of the Communications Regulatory Authority, Telia has a 87 per cent share in Lithuanian IPTV service market.
