One more phone manufacturer - Xiaomi from China - is to join the highest quality VoLTE phone calls in Telia Lietuva network. From now on, people who have smart phones Redmi Note 5 will be able to hear their collocutors even better as their voice will not be drowned out by background noise; moreover, in case you need to check your mailbox or open a website during the conversation, 4G connection will work without any interference.

'We were the first to implement VoLTE technology in 4G network in 2016. Since last year it has been available for the customers who have Samsung, Huawei and Sony flagship smartphones. Today their list is supplemented with one more manufacturer, namely, Xiaomi. With the growing accessibility to this technology, an increasing number of people can communicate with a better quality ensured. With regard to decreasing demand for traditional 2G and 3G networks, we can allocate less busy radio frequencies to 4G connection and improve its quality,' Andrius Šemeškevičius, Head of Technology at Telia Lietuva, noted.

This process has already gained momentum: in October, Telia Lietuva in about one third of the busiest 4G mobile connection base stations increased its capacity by 30 per cent. This was conducted by allocating part of 3G frequencies to 4G connection. The operator has plans to continue transferring part of 3G frequency bands and allocate them to 4G technology in those locations in which the usage of mobile Internet is the highest.

The VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technology helps ensure up to three times faster connection of phone calls, HD voice quality, and most importantly, the possibility to surf the Internet during a phone call. VoLTE phone calls are possible among those Telia Lietuva clients who have phones supporting this technology and have activated it accordingly. No extra fee is charged for the service and the customers do not have to do anything - the service is turned on automatically.
