TNB DONATES RM100,000 TO HELP GUNUNG JERAI FLOOD VICTIMS

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), through Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, donated RM100,000 to the victims of the recent flash flood in Gunung Jerai, Kedah.

Takiyuddin, together with TNB President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir. Baharin Din, handed the donation to Jerai MP, Sabri Azit at the Titi Hayun Disaster Operations Centre in Yan, Kedah on Saturday.

Takiyuddin was in Yan for his first working visit as the Minister to inspect the landslide area caused by the flooding at Gunung Jerai on 18 August, and checking on TNB's efforts in repairing the damaged electric supply infrastructure in the area.

The Minister also took time to visit TNB staff who were working to repair the electricity infrastructure in the vicinity. TNB provided mobile generator sets as a temporary measure to provide electricity to customers before the supply is fully restored.

Also present, Yan District Officer, YM Tunku Iskandar Shah Tunku Muzaffar Shah, Sungai Limau ADUN Ustaz Mohd Azam Abdul Samat anad Yan OCPD DSP Shahnaz Akhtar Haji.

The flood from Gunung Jerai has caused damages to several houses and tourism infrastructure in Yan, Gurun and Merbok. It also claimed the lives of six people.
