Shellie Clark, Vice President Commercial - Canada, represented Tenaris as a panelist in the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) Association's Women in Manufacturing Success Forum on March 12.

Clark discussed the impact of leadership, specifically what male and female leaders can do to promote diversity. She was joined by the Hon. Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development, Arlene Strom, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at Suncor Energy, and Bryan Derr, Vice President of Supply at Labatt Breweries in Canada.

CME's Women in Manufacturing Success Forum is an annual event that brings together more than 200 industry representatives and stakeholders to help define strategies to support and increase the number of women in manufacturing. Due to the pandemic, this year's event was held virtually over the course of the week, including keynote speakers, panel discussions and virtual plant tours.

'Early on in my career, I had to compete against much preferred male candidates if I wanted to maximize my earning potential and work in male-dominated industries. To do this, I needed to believe in myself more than anyone else because there weren't many industry women to look to as a symbol of possibility,' Clark said. 'Twenty years later, we have made important progress with respect to diversity, but there is still room to improve. I strongly believe that it's everyone's responsibility - both men and women - to protect and advance a culture of equality both inside and outside the workplace.'

In Canada, Tenaris has a Diversity and Inclusion Committee to promote diversity in the workplace. As a global organization, Tenaris embraces all forms of diversity including culture, gender, creed, race, nationality and generation as a factor that creates value.
