Tenaris has recently completed the certification process to start up a new production line for airbag components at its component center in Romania, which serves the automotive sector.

With the 5.5 million USD investment, Tenaris has equipped the component center with a one-of-a-kind line in Europe, where 100 percent of the testing of the tubes' characteristics and technical specifications has been automated.

The line produces seamless tubes and components for airbag inflators, and through this unique, automated testing process, it further enhances the safety of operations and guarantees a higher quality product through a more cost-effective manufacturing process.

'Our business is based on a long-term view and a constant pursuit of excellence in our processes, products, and services,' said Cinzia Rottoli, Commercial Senior Director, Automotive & Hydraulic Cylinders at Tenaris. 'With the recent implementation of the new production line, we are well-positioned to effectively respond to the growing demand of new generations of inflator airbag components from European producers while strengthening our worldwide network.'

The investment at Tenaris's plant, Silcotub, creates additional capacity to support customers such as Autoliv in the production of safety devices used in automotive applications.

'Over the course of a nearly 20-year relationship, Autoliv and Tenaris have worked closely together to develop new technologies, add capacities, coordinate footprints, and reduce defects. This effort has supported Autoliv's vision of saving more lives,' said Jared Jensen, Global Commodity Director Autoliv, the worldwide leader in automotive safety systems whose products include airbags, seatbelts, and steering wheels with 10 facilities in Romania.

Since 2004, Tenaris has built a network of automotive component centers in Argentina, Mexico, Italy, Romania and China, offering a wide range of reliable, high-quality products and services to customers around the world, supported by its work in R&D and technologically advanced machineries to improve performance and reliability.
