Tenaris has awarded 13 Matagorda County, TX, high school students scholarships totaling $186,000.

The presentation marks a return to the in-person scholarship celebration at Tenaris's Bay City, TX, facility, albeit with limited in attendance and Covid-19 safety protocols in place following last year's virtual event.

'It is great to be able to recognize the dedication of the students, face-to-face, as we start to regain normalcy in our day to day. I applaud each and everyone of you for having closed out your high school chapter with such success in a year that challenged and tested one's resiliency; well done,' said Luca Zanotti, Tenaris US President.

Bay City High School senior Preciosa Aivles received the high honor of Student of the Year, $60,000 scholarship recognizing outstanding academic achievement and involvement in the community. Aivles plans to pursue a degree in education from the University of Houston.

Matagorda County Judge Nate McDonald spoke about building the best county one good partner at a time, acknowledging the support of Tenaris through jobs, education and being active in the community. 'I believe in education with all my heart,' said McDonald. 'I want that for everybody in my county. Congratulations to each of you; you are all winners tonight.'

Tenaris also presented Merit Awards, at $20,000 each, to six graduating seniors majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) studies: Michael McMahon, Kadin Nuñez and Eric Granjeno from Bay City High School; Jaycie Franz, Van Vleck High School; and Patricia Castanon and Julian Diaz from Palacios High School. Scholarships were also awarded to eight runners-up in the amount of $500 to $1,000.

Education drives Tenaris's community initiatives to power growth and development. Since joining Matagorda County in 2013, Tenaris has invested more than $2.7 million in education in the county and has awarded 98 scholarships to help students advance their studies.

Across the US, Tenaris invested more than $5.9 million in education-based programs since 2010.
