As a global organization and a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Tennant Company is committed to protecting and upholding human rights - and enhancing the well-being of people and communities around the world. On Friday, December 10, 2021, in recognition of World Human Rights Day, all of us at Tennant were proud to announce the launch of our corporate Human Rights Policy. This policy applies to all Tennant employees and temporary workers globally, as we are committed to respecting and promoting the human rights of our employees and temporary workers across our global operations.
Our PrinciplesThe Tennant Company Human Rights Policy takes inspiration and guidance from the U.N. Global Compact's Ten Principles and reflects our values and commitments toward all human rights. Our Human Rights Policy is intended to be forward-thinking, but it is also firmly grounded in our existing policies, programs, procedures, and practices that support each of the principles included in the policy - and that we support globally, across all functions. The core principles of the Tennant Company Human Rights Policy include:
We are committed to the safety and well-being of our employees and temporary workers worldwide.
Freedom of AssociationWe recognize and respect the right of employees and temporary workers to freedom of association and collective bargaining to which they are entitled under applicable laws.
Forced or Compulsory Labor, Human Trafficking, and Underage LaborWe do not tolerate any form of underage labor, forced labor, or any form of human trafficking. We expect our employees and temporary workers to comply with local labor and employment laws wherever they operate.
Non-DiscriminationWe believe that no person shall be subject to any unlawful discrimination in employment on any applicable prohibited basis.
Anti-Bribery and Anti-CorruptionWe have zero-tolerance for any form of bribery or corruption in conducting our business.
Working ConditionsWe pay employees and temporary workers at least the required minimum wage, provide legally-mandated benefits, and adhere to all applicable working hours and overtime compensation laws.
Respectful WorkplaceWe do not tolerate harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind. Tennant prohibits harassment, discrimination, and other forms of retaliation against any individual who submits a report or assists in the investigation of a claim.
Formalizing our Human Rights Policy is a natural extension of our long history of stewardship here at Tennant Company. Throughout our 150+ year history, our business has evolved, but our foundational values have endured. Our reputation for being an ethical company is one of our key strengths.
