NORTH READING, Mass. (AP) _ Teradyne Inc. (TER) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $196.3 million.

The North Reading, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of $1.05 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time items, were $1.10 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 99 cents per share.

The maker of wireless products, data storage and equipment to test semiconductors posted revenue of $759 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $719.5 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $784.1 million, or $4.28 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.12 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Teradyne expects its per-share earnings to range from 95 cents to $1.11. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had forecast adjusted earnings per share of $1.01.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $720 million to $780 million for the fiscal first quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $727.2 million.

Teradyne shares have climbed 8.5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $130.11, a rise of 87% in the last 12 months.
