NORWALK, Conn. (AP) _ Terex Corp. (TEX) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $48.1 million.

The Norwalk, Connecticut-based company said it had profit of 68 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted to account for discontinued operations, came to 67 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 71 cents per share.

The machinery products maker posted revenue of $993.8 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.03 billion.

Terex expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.75 to $2.85 per share, with revenue expected to be $3.85 billion.
