TERNA: AUTHORISATION PROCEDURE LAUNCHED FOR THE 132 kV

DONADA - ROSOLINA - BRONDOLO UNDERGROUND POWER LINES

BETWEEN THE PROVINCES OF VENICE AND ROVIGO

The project provides for a new 24 km underground cable connection and the demolition of

17 km of overhead lines and 89 pylons

The project will return approximately 25 hectares to local areas

Rome, 22 July 2021 - Terna has published the notice containing the list of the parcels of land potentially involved in the works, located in the municipalities of Chioggia, Rosolina and Porto Viro, between the provinces of Venice and Rovigo, following the launch of the authorisation procedure by the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition for the new underground cable power line between the Primary Cabins of Donada, Rosolina and Brondolo.

The project will see investment from the national transmission system operator of €20 million, includes the construction of a new 132 kV, 24 km long underground cable: 16 km between the Primary Cabins in Brondolo and Rosolina and 8 km between the cabins in Rosolina and Donada Following this project, it will be possible to eliminate 17 km of 50 kV overhead power lines that today connect the three cabins, corresponding to 89 pylons. Overall, these works will free up over 25 hectares of land in and around Venice and Rovigo.

The works will improve the quality of grid service in the area south of the Venetian Lagoon, given the growing demand for power from the Primary Cabin in Brondolo, connected to the MOSE project, in particular for the floodgates installed at the port entrance of Chioggia.

Citizens, and in particular the owners of the land affected by the works, can view the project in electronic format via the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition, the municipalities of Chioggia, Rosolina and Porto Viro and the Terna offices in Padua. It is possible to forward written comments and observations to the aforementioned Ministry together with a copy for information purposes to Terna, within 30 days of publication of the notice.

Terna, which manages 5,100 km of high and extra-high-voltage lines and 63 electrical substations in the region, as part of its 2021-2025 "Driving Energy" Business Plan, will invest over € 370 million in the Veneto region to develop the local electricity grid and increase its resilience in the context of the energy transition promoted by the company. The planned works will involve over 200 companies and 850 personnel.
