TERNA: AUTHORISATION PROCESS UNDER WAY FOR WORK

ON THE ELECTRICITY GRID IN THE CASERTA AREA

The new connections will increase the efficiency of the electricity grid in the area of the Municipality

of Sessa Aurunca

Planned investment of around €14 million

Rome, 04 December 2021 - Following the Ministry of Ecological Transition's launch of the authorisation process for the construction of new 150 kV aerial/cable connections from the "SE Ceprano - SE Garigliano" power line to the Suio Primary Cabin in the Municipality of Sessa Aurunca, province of Caserta, Terna now publishes the notice listing the plots of land relating to areas potentially affected by the new works.

Thanks to the new infrastructure, for which Terna will invest around €14 million, the Suio Primary Cabin will reach a higher voltage level with a resulting improvement in the quality of the electricity supply service and greater grid efficiency.

The work involves the construction of two overhead connections with a total length of more than 2 km: 1.2 km on the Garigliano Electricity Substation side and 1 km on the Ceprano Electricity Substation side. In addition, a pair of XLPE-insulated underground cables (a more efficient and advanced technology that requires less maintenance), each almost 4 km long, will be built to the Suio Primary Cabin.

Citizens, and in particular the owners of plots of land potentially affected by the new works, can view the project at the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Municipality of Sessa Aurunca. For a period of 30 days after the publication of the notice, comments may be submitted in writing to the above-mentioned Ministry and to Terna Rete Italia (dipartimento-sud@pec.terna.it.)

Terna, which manages 3,500 km of high and extra-high-voltage lines and 60 electrical substations in the region, is rolling out its 2021-2025 "Driving Energy" Business Plan and will invest over € 1 billion in Campania to develop the resilience of the local electricity grid as part of the energy transition in which the company has a key role. The programme of works will involve over 350 companies and 1500 personnel.
