TESMEC BRINGS THE CELEBRATIONS OF ITS 70TH ANNIVERSARY TO MONOPOLI, BETWEEN INDUSTRIAL TRADITION AND DIGITAL INNOVABILITY

In the Apulian city, a two-days event to go in deep in technologies for a safe, efficient and sustainable railway infrastructure

  • The Group celebrates this important milestone by telling its story and presenting its evolution from a pioneer of mechanical stringing to an international, digital and sustainable tech company;
  • Tesmec is in Puglia since 2011 with the production plants and research centres of the subsidiary Tesmec Rail in Monopoli and Bitetto. Tesmec Rail is active in the design, prototyping and manufacturing of railway vehicles and advanced systems for the diagnostic of the railway infrastructure;
  • The aim of the meetings is to deepen the link between the Group, the local community, universities, entrepreneurship and local institutions, and, in particular, the role that these players can play in supporting the railway sector as a sustainable mode of transport.

Monopoli (Bari - Italy), 12 november 2021 - Tesmec, at the head of a group leader in the market of technologies for infrastructures (overhead, underground and railway networks) related to the transport of energy, data and materials (oil and derivatives, gas and water), and of technologies in surface mining, celebrates its 70th anniversary also in Monopoli, with a two-days event to go in deep in technologies for a safe, efficient and sustainable railway infrastructure.

The Group, in Puglia since 2011 with the production plants and research centres of the subsidiary Tesmec Rail in Monopoli and Bitetto, active in the design, prototyping and manufacturing of railway vehicles and advanced systems for the diagnostic of the railway infrastructure, aimed to highlight the strong link with the Apulian territory and in particular with the related industries of Monopoli, presenting, at the same time, his own evolution from a pioneer of mechanical stringing to an international, digital and sustainable tech company.

In detail, the two-day event saw the Italian and foreign customers of the Group as protagonists of the first day, who discussed technological progress and innovative methodologies for the installation and maintenance of the catenary, as well as on the automated systems for the safety and efficiency of jobsite. Tesmec presented, in particular, its future projects, including the design and development of an innovative vehicle with hybrid traction equipped with advanced diagnostic systems, through the creation of a hub for the development of maintenance vehicles with low environmental impact.

During the second day, a round table, organized at the Diocesan Museum of Monopoli, saw the participation of important speakers from the political, institutional, business and academic world, as well as the Top Management of the Tesmec Group, including: Ubaldo Pagano, Chief of the Budget Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Gianna Elisa Berlingerio, Director of the Economic Development Department of the Puglia Region, Antonio De Vito, General Manager of Puglia Sviluppo, Cesare Pierpaolo De Palma, President of the Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Section of Confindustria Bari Bat, Vincenzo Spagnolo, Vice-rectorof the Polytechnic of Bari (delegate for technology transfer and third mission). institutional greetings of Angelo Annese, Mayor of Monopoli, Alessandro Delli Noci, Councilor of the Puglia Region for Economic Development and Monsignor Giuseppe Favale, Bishop of the Diocese of Conversano- Monopoli. The debate was moderated by Livio Costarella, journalist of La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno.

Interesting food for thought were offered by the speakers panel. In particular, Ambrogio Caccia Dominioni, President and CEO of Tesmec, retraced the history of the Group, which chose Puglia to further develop its business, particularly in the railway sector. The honorable Ubaldo Pagano discussed on the objectives on which a company must focus to drive the important transformations underway, in a context in which the Recovery and Resilience Plan represents the current strategy of our country to put companies and territories in the conditions to face the challenges of the future. Gianna Elisa Berlingerio, Director of the Economic Development Department of the Puglia Region, underlined the role of the Region in the adoption, support and promotion of policies in support of sustainable mobility. The contribution of Antonio de Vito, General Manager of Puglia Development, concerned financial instruments to facilitate access to credit and innovative finance to support companies in Puglia. The point of view of entrepreneurship was also put on the table by Cesare Pierpaolo De Palma, President of the Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Section of Confindustria Bari Bat, who discussed the relationship between the companies and a particularly fertile local area. The fertility of the Apulian industry cannot be separated from university excellence: Vincenzo Spagnolo, Vice- Rector of the Polytechnic of Bari, celebrated the long-standing relationship between Tesmec Rail and the Polytechnic by deepening the role that the University plays in the development of business.

In summary, the round table presented the history and evolution of Tesmec as a reality rooted in a territory rich in excellence and skills, an international player that successfully faces the challenges of digitalization and the energy and ecological transition, considering the changes as an opportunity, also thanks to its 70 years of history marked by growth, innovation and continuous transformation. The conference also deepened the link between the Group and, in general, the business world, with the Apulian territory, highlighting the role that local institutions and universities, in particular the Polytechnic of Bari, can play in facing the challenges of the future also in the context of initiatives to support the railway sector as a sustainable mode of transport.

Before the round table there were a visit of the traveling photographic exhibition on Tesmec's 70 years and guided visits to the Crypt of Romualdo, the Cathedral of Monopoli and the Diocesan Museum.

In line with the Group's sustainability targets, Tesmec has also decided to support the Theodora Onlus Foundation, which since 1995 brings the magic of a colourful world to children in hospitals thanks to the special visits of "Dottor Sogni", with the donation of a sum of money and the promotion of the Foundation's activities, further confirming that respect and attention for human resources and for the communities that are the basis of Tesmec's strategies.
