Miami, FL - American Airlines continues to bet on Miami with the launch of new international service to Tel Aviv (TLV), as well as more domestic flying. With these additions, as well as more widebody aircraft flying out of Miami International Airport (MIA), the airline will be operating at approximately the same capacity as in 2019.

'Since 1989 American has been betting on Miami and there's no better proof than our continuous growth at MIA, even throughout the pandemic. Since resuming our international operation in June 2020, we've doubled down on our commitment to MIA, with new service to Israel, Suriname, new domestic markets and the use of larger aircraft, all allowing us to continue to lead in South Florida as the largest U.S. airline. Demand has returned quickly to Miami, and this summer we will be operating at approximately the same level as in 2019 with more than 280 daily flights to more than 110 destinations. We are proud of our more than 30 years of history in Miami and we look forward to our continued growth.

Juan Carlos Liscano, American's Vice President of Operations for Miami

'With its new MIA-TLV service, operating three times per week with a Boeing 777-200, American will become the only U.S. airline operating this route. Customers have the option to choose Flagship Business, with lie flat seats, Premium Economy or Main Cabin on the 12-hour flight. The airline offers Kosher meals for pre-order and kosher wine on board.

'

Seeing our busiest hometown airline getting closer to restoring their pre-pandemic capacity and level of activity is proof that our efforts are working and is fantastic news for our residents and our local tourism industry, which is quickly and safely rebounding from the pandemic. Congratulations to American Airlines for once again leading the way in bringing more visitors to our County and connecting our community to key destinations around the world like Tel Aviv.

Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade County

American's new MIA-TLV service complements the airline's New York (JFK)-TLV flights, which launched in May, and its Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)-TLV service, launching in October.

'

We are deeply grateful to American Airlines for not only bringing back to MIA the same number of flights that it had in 2019, but for also launching five domestic routes and two international routes that it had not served even before the pandemic. American's unwavering commitment to its Miami hub is one of the biggest reasons why MIA is now seeing daily passenger traffic grow again, just 15 months after the pandemic-related travel restrictions began.

Lester Sola, MIA Director and CEO

Following the suspension of its international operation in March 2020 due to COVID-19, on June 4, 2020, American resumed international flying at MIA with flights to Antigua, Ecuador and Guyana, with additional markets following suit in the next months.

One year later, on June 4, 2021, the airline continues to expand its operation at MIA with new international service to Tel Aviv and, on June 5, with new domestic service to five destinations, including Little Rock, Arkansas (LIT), Portland, Maine (PWM), Huntsville, Alabama (HSV), Milwaukee, Wisconsin (MKE) and Rochester, New York (ROC).

Later this summer, the airline is launching service to Bangor, Maine (BGR) in July, and to Paramaribo, Suriname (PBM) in August. In addition to these new flights, this summer American will operate more widebody service at MIA than at any of its other hubs, with up to 40 daily flights on peak days with aircraft including Boeing 777-200, Boeing 777-300 and Boeing 787-800.
