Old Navy was founded in 1994 by Gap Inc. with one simple belief: we could deliver the Democracy of Style and give everyone in the family access to great clothing at an incredible value. Now in 2021, with more than 1,200 locations, we have grown to be part of the fabric of the communities we serve-providing jobs, giving back and creating an inclusive space where all are welcome. This past year while the world faced a devastating global pandemic and additional civic unrest, the role of brands took on new meaning.

Today, we are thrilled to share that Old Navy has been named in Fast Company's exclusive, first-annual list: "Brands That Matter"! This new recognition program honors companies and nonprofits that are more than the products they sell or the services they provide, that have achieved relevance through cultural impact and social engagement, and whose branding authentically communicates their missions and ideals. Old Navy is one of the 95 brands on the list that has forged an emotional connection to customers by leading with their values.

"This recognition speaks volumes about the amazing teams at Old Navy and the incredible work they do. We lead by doing the right thing for our customers, employees, communities and planet-from supporting customers during the pandemic and launching industry-changing initiatives like BODEQUALITY, to creating jobs and opportunities for underserved youth through our This Way ONward program and through our sustainability goals as part of our Imagine Mission, we are making an impact where it matters most," said Jamie Gersch, Chief Marketing Officer, Old Navy.

Winners were chosen based on relevancy, cultural impact, ingenuity and business impact. Click here to see the complete list and grab the November issue of Fast Company magazine on newsstands beginning November 2, 2021.

"Fast Company is excited to highlight companies and organizations that have built brands with deep meaning and connections to the customers they serve. At a time when consumers are holding companies to very high standards, businesses have much to learn from these brands that have garnered respect and trust," says Stephanie Mehta, Editor-in-Chief, Fast Company.
