Mr Peter Wong Wai-yee, the Managing Director of Towngas, was delighted about the multiple awards the Company received. He said that Towngas has been integrating ESG elements into its business strategies over the years. In recent years, the Company has focused on developing its smart energy business, and has gradually transformed itself into a leading integrated clean energy provider, contributing to the national and local carbon reduction targets through clean and reliable energy supply. 'Towngas has been serving Hong Kong for 160 years. One of the keys to our continued growth is to remind ourselves to 'think bigger, climb higher, and look further' constantly.' As the winner of the Outstanding ESG Award, Mr Isaac Yeung Chung-kwan, the Head of Corporate ESG / Head of Corporate Affairs of Towngas, was invited to share the Company's ESG strategy and vision. Mr Yeung remarked, 'Towngas implements ESG as a whole, as the three elements are not standalone, but complementary to each other.' He added that Towngas recently became the first Hong Kong company to publish a directive document, the Climate-related and Nature-related Directive Guide, in response to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework to review and disclose the ecological and biodiversity impacts, as well as the risks and opportunities arising from its operations. The Company also proactively aligns its operations with the Climate Action Plan 2050 set out by the HKSAR Government and the national 30-60 dual carbon goals, and is actively exploring the feasibility of extracting hydrogen from town gas in its network to provide Hong Kong with a convenient, fast, affordable 2 and cleaner energy source.
